There's an old legend that says a Miata should cross the 100,000 mile mark at 100 mph or above. (Thanks Sam!) If
a Miata does this and has a photo to prove it, the next 100k miles will bring as much happiness as the first.
On August 17, 2004, Sharka achieved this milestone.
100,000 miles. 100+ mph. A favorite desert road. A fast song on the radio. It doesn't get much better.
Disregard the 50 mph sign. A short way down the road, the limit is 100. Really.
Celebratory photos were in order. If I look this good at 100,
it'll be a miracle.
Celebratory photo 2: The handpolished Rotas were new at the time.
Sharka got new wheels just before the occasion. Nice to have shiny new shoes before rolling 100k. He sure has brought
me alot of happiness in 50,000 miles of ownership. I'm sure the next 100k will bring many more smiles.
On the same day Sharka reached the 100k milestone, a happy coincidence happened. I visited my finance company's website to pay
Sharka's monthly bill and noticed that the balance was really low. In fact, the balance on my loan was
low enough that I decided to pay off Sharka right then and there. The confirmation email arrived and I was overwhelmed
with the realization that I finally own my car. What a day! 100,000 miles and a car that's completely mine!
