This is my race seat, a MOMO 1000 Lakes model. In the early 90s, MOMO's top of the line seat was the kevlar/carbon
1000 Lakes seat that you see here. It was fully homologated for FiA WRC racing and sold for north of $800. They later discontinued it and replaced
the 1000 Lakes line with the Acropolis line. Now (2006), I believe they have gone to the Acropolis Evolution line.
Really, they're all pretty much the same seat. It's very small, very lightweight, and very supportive. If you're shaped
like a WRC champion (read: very fit and thin), you'll probably fit this seat. Fortunately, I'm small of frame and like
to keep fit, so I have no problem fitting this seat. And as you can see, it also fits the Miata just fine.
I stumbled across this seat in a protective bag in the back corner of a Spec Miata builder's garage. It didn't fit anyone
and had cluttered up the shop for far too long. It fit me, so I was given a very nice price if I promised to take
it off their hands.
I mounted the I mounted the 8 pound seat to the floor with self-fabricated 1/4" steel brackets. FiA specified that
thickness, so who was I to argue? It doesn't use sliders, but I'm usually the only
driver, so that's not a problem. I take the seat out in the winter since I don't fit with my coat on. It
hugs my 150 lb 5'10" frame pretty darn tight.

Pretty snazzy huh? Carbon/kevlar just looks cool.

A little different from the stock seat. Or most race seats you see at autocrosses!

Look at ALL that space! It's close, but it doesn't touch, even with me sitting in it.
What better to go with a MOMO seat than a MOMO wheel? The wheel, a MOMO F1, was purchased on ebay in January of
2005. The "D shape" or d-cut wheel should offer much more legroom with the 1000 Lakes seat in place. For more
info, check out the MOMO Steering Wheel page.

The MOMO F1 - rare, d-shaped, and perfect! (ignore the stock seat, it was winter)

Check out all that legroom! It's hard to come by in a Miata.
