2004 New Mexico International Autoshow

In April of 2004, Albuquerque had their first "real" auto show similar to the kind I like to watch on Speedvision. There was a handful of concept and pre-release cars including the Ford GT, the new Mustang, the Solstice, and the Mazda Monoposto - a single-seat 99-00 Miata. Nothing like a big LA or Detroit autoshow, but it was pretty cool.

Mazda Monoposto huge wheel and nameplate
The Monoposto, sporting 18" wheels and very little suspension travel

Mazda Monoposto front quarter shot
They wouldn't open the hood for me, but a peek through the scoop revealed a standard engine.

Monoposto rear bumper and center exhaust
A very cool custom bumper/exhaust.

Slick single seat Monoposto interior with MOMO wheel and Autometer gauges
A very slick custom dash, but the mismatched Momo and Sparco stuff was noticed...

Monoposto interior showing gearshift and brake knobs
Looks like a standard Miata center console... Don't let my snarky comments fool ya, I like it!

Ford GT concept car
Mmmmmmm.... GT! *drools*

Ford GT again
I wouldn't kick it out of the garage.

Ford GT in red with white stripes
I'd have to change the numbers...

Tasty, sexy Ford GT
Sign me up, my good man.

Miata in raspberry with tan top
Blackberry colored? The woman doesn't look impressed.

Concept Solstice on fast spinning platform
Solstice. The platform was spinning pretty quick, so all of my pix are blurry.

Farmer sitting in a new Jaguar
Farmer Jon jumped in the Jaguar and billowed, "DON'T TELL GRANDMA, I'M SITTIN IN A JAG!"

Two new Nissan Zs back when they didn't clog the streets
A pair of Z's.

Early concept for new Mustang
New Mustang. Vintage, modern, and tasty!

New Honda S2000 with 2200cc engine
If only they'd badged it the "S2200"...

Angry dodge viper with projector headlights
The Viper is angry.

SSR truck back before they were more common than Civics
Is the SSR a truck? Yup, it's friggin huge.
