Custom gauge faces.
I've now created two seperate sets of gauge faces with different inspirations.
They're custom, which is just another word for homemade. I created the source in
Adobe Illustrator, printed out three layers (face, mask, color), glued, and cut out. It
was *a lot* of work for the first set, probably over 60 hours. Seriously. But I'm extremely happy with the
results. The second face set took an afternoon of doodling in Illustrator and another afternoon of cutting
out the printed gauges - maybe 10 hours total time invested.
This link
will take you to a zip file showing some samples of the artwork for each of the three layers.
I can type about how I made them all day, and someone will still not get it, but after I show them
what I'm talking about it becomes immediately obvious. Please do not try to erase the little "SAMPLE"
text covering the artwork. If you'd like help making your own, I'd be happy to give it. Just drop me an email:

This is my second attempt at making my own gauge faces. I ran across some pictures of the Mclaren F1 gauge pod
somewhere online and was just blown away by the tach design. I had to have something similar. So here it is.
It borrows from Artworks Dewa for the needle-placement trick, but as far as I know, they don't do an F1-inspired
gauge face set.

This was my first attempt at custom gauge faces. I was going for something with a very vintage look, small raised indicator
lights, and a black face. They turned out very nice. After 4 years of service, I removed them in favor of the above "modern"
design. They looked as bright (the colors) and dark (the blacks) as the day I installed them. The New Mexico sun didn't have
much effect.
